Winter Storm Panic

[Disclaimer to my Nashville-friends: I realize we're not equipped to handle this kind of weather here, which in fact makes this a pretty serious situation. I'm just finding the humor and teasing a bit...]

Middle Tennessee is in a state of panic, ya’ll. Why, you ask?

Here. Just give this alert from news channel 5 a quick gander:

Two to FOUR inches!? Holy crap.

The news channels are warning people to go out and stock up on bread and milk. The grocery stores are going to be zoos.

People! Please allow me to show you what real snow looks like:

Photos courtesy of my awesome mother, who, when I text-messaged her and asked “Can you run outside in the freezing cold and multiple feet of snow and take pictures for my blog” totally DID IT.
(Which, I might add, is one of the many reasons why my mother rocks.)

And ya know what? When it snows like that up north, it doesn’t just melt in a few days or a week. That’s what it looks like till March (if you’re lucky … if not, late-April).

I will give you one thing — if Nashville gets snow, it does get bad because (1) no one knows how to drive in snow, (2) there are no state car inspection requirements in Tennessee so half the population drives around on shit-ass bald tires, and (3) we don’t have the arsenal of plow and salt trucks that the north does.

However that still doesn’t mean there’s any cause for panic. Seriously. Just because we’re going to have 2-4 inches of snow doesn’t mean that you need to stock up on groceries to feed your family of four for six weeks. Really! It’ll be OKAY.

… And ya know, if it’s not okay, I’ll just hit up my neighbors ’cause they’re bound to have horded enough bread and milk for me too. Right?
