Erica and I had a whirlwind road trip weekend! We left Friday afternoon and drove to Nashville, spent the day visiting friends and seeing Butch Walker and the Black Widows at the Exit/In, then drove home on Sunday.

It was so good to see my friends at the knit shop (they didn’t even know I was coming). Lots of hugs and kisses ensued.
Erica and I stayed with our friend Jessica and her boyfriend Jason, who are the cutest couple ever. Their new house is gorgeous too. Unfortunately Jess couldn’t join us for the concert because she had to work, but another friend, Maggie, was able to go.

Erica and Maggie have seen Butch about 4 or 5 times each (maybe more?) but it was my first time. I’ve listened to a little of his music and liked it, but I couldn’t quite understand why my friends were so crazy about him … that is, till I saw him live. I totally get it now!
Even the opener, Shovels & Rope, was amazing. (Think a slightly higher-pitched Janis Joplin with a folk-rock/country/blues feel.) A-maz-ing! I want to pick up their album.
It was one helluva show for a $20 ticket price! And the 1,400 miles I drove over the weekend was WELL worth it — got to see my friends that I’ve missed and see a great show.
A little Butch goodness for you …Butch Walker “Here Comes The”
