One my very favorite things about fall is that it’s the season for county fairs. We didn’t have the chance to go to any last year, so I wanted to make sure we made it this year!
Mike, Benny and I had a great time playing games, riding the rides, seeing all the farm animals and of course filling up on all the oh-so-bad, but oh-so-good fair foods.
Benny is such a daredevil. It makes me both proud and a little nervous sometimes. (I’m thinking we’re going to spend most of his childhood years chasing after him trying to strap on helmets and knee-pads.) He was totally confident, even riding the roller coaster by himself!
I had this funny moment when Ben was on the roller coaster ride: I was standing there with a big grin on my face, waving enthusiastically at him, trying to catch his eye so he’d wave back. Suddenly I had this memory hit me of my parents doing the same thing when I was a kid. At the time, I recall thinking they were very strange standing there waving like idiots … but for some reason, now I get it.
And I didn’t care how stupid I looked standing there waving and grinning.
