Seether in Cleveland and a Surprise…

Friday night Mike and I drove up to Cleveland for the 20th annual Marc’s Great American Rib Cook Off & Music Festival … not because we love BBQ ribs, but because Seether was headlining! Seether is our favorite band; it was Mike’s 4th time seeing them live and my first.

Through some bizarre Ticketmaster.com glitch, we managed to get pit tickets for $8 each (+ $2 each Ticketmaster fees), which was a lot less than they were supposed to be, apparently. (Woo!) We got to fest at about 1:30 PM, walked around and ate a little, then stood in line for a good 4 hours to be the first ones into the pit, then nearly another couple hours of standing IN the pit till the show started — but it was well worth it.

Mike said I screamed like a teenage girl at a boy-band concert when Shaun Morgan came on stage. (Whatever!)  They played for a little over an hour and a half, and played a great mix of old and new songs. They opened with “Gasoline”, which was a surprising (and fabulous) choice. From the new album, they played “Fur Cue” (my fav) and “Country Song” (the single that’s out now). They also did a cover of Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box” which was chilling. (You can see it here on YouTube.)

Randomly: Can we talk about that Schecter he’s playing!? Gorgeous! It’s the new Shaun Morgan Signature, but sadly it isn’t available to the public in that candy red. Hmph.

Anyway, during one of our favorite songs, one that has significance to both of us — I felt a tap and looked over at Mike. His face was wet with tears and in his outstretched hand was this:

And I said YES!

(Sorry it’s blurry — I’ll post a better photo later. I just had to get a pic with the “Seether” banner in the background to document the moment!)

We hugged and I bounced around excitedly and we continued to sing along to the song. The people around us and even the security guard you can see in some of the pictures stopped to congratulate us.

People have been asking us about dates — we haven’t decided anything yet. We’re just enjoying being engaged for now. And it’s a wonderful feeling!
